Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire, a quiet neighborhood in the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" spot. The people who aren't familiar with this term frequently think that it's a separate island somewhere west of Montreal however, there is a lot more to it. West Island is home to everything from the town of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there however her stay there was short. Brugel had a childhood in Courtice close to Oshawa in Ontario. Early ambitions were to be performing, but she simply outgrew her dance partners. In an article released by the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall when wearing heels. When I outgrew my male companions, I stopped. A lot of former dancers go on to acting. In the case of Brugel, it was a suggestion from the drama instructor at her high school who encouraged her to go into the right direction. The teacher was the one who encouraged her to try out in the role of Anne for their school's annual production. The student tried it out, and ended up playing the character of Anne of Green Gables. It was her turn to be awarded a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program and graduated at the age of 20 with a degree in Fine Arts. Since then, Brugel's participated participating in numerous productions on big screens and smaller ones. She gained the most fame when she was offered the part as Rita of the acclaim-winning television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member during Season 1 of the show and was rarely seen.
